@Townsville City Council (汤斯维尔市议会):
In honour of Townsville's very own Rugby League legend Johnathan Thurston, Council has decided to immortalise his likeness into Castle Hill's eastern face.
1. Burger King introduces Whoppers for left-handed people.
Burger King published a full page advertisement promising the revolutionary burger in 1998. Thousands of customers went into restaurants to request the new meal, while many others requested their own 'right handed' version.
2. Big Ben's clock face is being replaced with a digital display like an alarm clock.
In 1980 the BBC reported that Big Ben, in order to keep up with the times, was going to be given a digitalreadout. The prank was so good it's been rehashed by less imaginative news organisations on more recent April Fool's Day. The gag even appeared in the episode of The Simpsons set in the future when Lisa gets married.
3. Priest carries out a mass exorcism of school children to banish The Devil.
The 1,000 young people, from schools in the town of Gryfice, north-western Poland, were attending the three-day camp to help "young people explore God and devote themselves to spiritual renewal through prayer". But instead of singing songs and praying, priest Tomas Wieczorek, 37, was more interested in excorcising their demons and replacing them with God.Unitrans世联翻译公司在您身边,离您最近的翻译公司,心贴心的专业服务translation company,全球领先的翻译与技术解决方案供应商,北京翻译公司、上海翻译公司顶级品牌。
4. Trees cultivated that can grow spaghetti.
In 1957 Panorama broadcast a three-minute segmentabout a bumper spaghetti harvest in southern Switzerland. Hundreds of people phoned the BBC wanting to know how they could grow their own spaghetti tree.
5. New species of dinosaur discovered called the Sibirosaurus.
Experts from Russia announced the discovery of the new dinosaur, with fossilised remains found in Siberia. They say the giant beast lived 100 million years ago and is related to the also fake-sounding Titanosaur, which was estimated to have weighed up to 100 tonnes and was up to 40 metres long.
Titanosaur:
6. Dead woman wakes up in morgue and says 'where am I?'
The 92-year-old had been pronounced dead hours earlier by a doctor at a retirement home in the city of Gelsenkirchen and taken to the Munstermann funeral parlour. When the funeral director recovered he saw the old woman lying in the coffin with both eyes open during the bizarre incident in March.
7. Documentary made about flying penguins.
The BBC struck again in 2008, announcing that camera crews filming near the Antarctic for its natural history series Miracles of Evolution had captured footage of Adélie penguins taking to the air. It even offered video footage which became one of the most viewed clips on the internet.

8. Woman decorates dog poo with strawberries and cream.
Last year Theresa Ritchie wanted to highlight the problem of lazy dog owners failing to pick up after their animals in an amusing way. A member of Pick Up Peterhead, Theresa also used Nutella (一种巧克力酱) to the same effect according to the Evening Express.
9. Giant rats the size of cats are roaming the streets of Birmingham.
Well, that's what a city pest controller claimed last year, saying he had seen a rodentthat measured a whoppingtwo feet. It came just days after huge rodent dubbed Ratzilla was snared in Sweden, the Birmingham Mail reported.
10. Google invents search engine powered by your thoughts.
In 2000 the internet pioneers' annual hoax was 'MentalPlex', software that read your thoughts to carry out Google searches. Maybe if you're reading this in another 15 years time, it won't be a April Fool any more?
