一个行业出几个领头人，是一个行业的好事，但要想成为领头人确实很难。学术水平的高低，为人的好坏，是否有真材实料，是否为社会做出了贡献，是否受人民群众的欢迎和尊敬，这些都非常重要。肿瘤治疗行业的领头人还要有学者的睿智，医者的仁心。

好几次与某些领导见面，介绍到我时就有些委婉，有的人还这样说：“于保法，开办肿瘤医院，噢，当然还有些争议。”研究癌症的治疗我也就是带了一个头，却把一些莫名争议归到我一个人身上，成了对我个人的争议，我表示不理解。

我并不是、也不想一个人在行业里单打独斗，但公立医院与私立医院实质上就不在一个起跑线上。解放前，医院大多是民营经营，如北京协和医院建院时就是私立医院。山东的齐鲁医院初期也是外国人个人筹资兴建的。解放后，中国的医院都改为公有化，但是其为病人服务的性质没有变，永远也不能变。20世纪90年代开始，国内才逐渐有了私立医院的出现，间隔了50年，私立医院再次兴起，相关的配套政策、管理规范和措施等却没有相应的规定。实际上，目前的私立医院在夹缝中发展。

问题是所有公立医院在癌症的治疗上虽处于整体的优势，但要具体到癌症的治疗、病人的生活质量和疗效上，大医院也没有优势可言。病人要疗效，病人要生活质量，病人就有权利择院择医，找疗效满意的医院，病人可以判断出疗效的好与不好，所以肿瘤医院提高疗效是发展的根本。
All public hospitals were at integrally advantages in the treatment of cancer, while they had no advantage at all on the specific aspects such as the treatment, the quality of patients’ life and the efficacy of cancer treatment. The patients wanted to get good curative effect and better quality of life, and they had the right to choose the hospital and the doctor, finding the satisfactory hospital and determining the efficacy, so to improve the curative effect is the fundamental for a tumor hospital’s developing.
 
中国的肿瘤专家及整个抗癌团队，我们有理由团结起来，去共同抗击癌症，应该干点为攻克癌症，为减轻病人痛苦，为提高病人生活质量和延长病人生命的事。在抗癌的战场上，不管是主力队还是游击队，不管是国家队还是地方队，不管是公立队还是私立队，都应该统一战线，我们共同的敌人是癌症。
As cancer experts and the anticancer team in China, we have reason to unite, to jointly fight against cancer, and we should do more to conquer cancer, to relieve the pain of patients, to improve the quality of patients’ life and prolong their lives.
