对于千百年来形成的民族风俗,我们应给予必要的尊重,在进行广告翻译时,译者对广告词语的理解不能只局限于字面的意义,还应该去了解它的引申意以及丰富的文化蕴涵。如果只是直接按字面翻译成英语,没有考虑到其它的因素,如语言、文化、政治、风俗等,译出来的内容就会有悖于西方文化。
